Jewish Heritage in a Tourist-oriented Urban Space – Podgórze
OPIS
Kup BiletyPodgórze, primarily known for the Nazi-era Krakow Ghetto, is a burgeoning tourist destination, contrasting with the long-established mass tourism of Kazimierz. The district, scarred by the Holocaust, raises questions about memory, oblivion, and the ethical integration of tourism within an urban space, where approaches to managing the so-called dark tourism are a key concern.
An expert-led walk, guided by a contributor to the Taube Center’s Field Guide to Jewish Krakow, will explore these complex themes and highlight the critical need for circumspect and thoughtful tourism in modern-day Krakow.
