Water as a symbol of passage, purity and an element that guarantees survival, plays an important role not just in Judaism. It is the element responsible for rebirth and destruction at the same time.
The mikveh, or “water of life”, shows most clearly the importance of water for spiritual purification, it enables participation in the liturgy, sexual intercourse and is also used for cleansing items purchased from non-Jews. During the walk, we will discuss topics related to staying clean and washing and the history of Jewish baths in Krakow and Kazimierz.
